VIN WDB4351171W147558
This is a 1988 factory high cab doka fire truck on a 3.7 meter (long) wheelbase. Badged as a U1550 for some reason but has the OM352A turbo engine so really closer to a U1300L. Fast axle truck (code A11). Stored indoors in a fire department in Sweden with 22,390km on the clock at present. The inside and chassis are in almost new condition. This is a comparatively rare example of a factory high roof Doka rather than many of the LF8 trucks made by other cab builders. Much better sound insulation than any other factory unimog I’ve been in. I had planned to keep this truck but decided my one mega crew cab truck in the US and one Doka in Indonesia were enough for my current unimog needs.
-Turbo OM352A engine set to 160hp. All mechanical engine.
-Long 3.7 meter wheelbase perfect for expedition vehicle.
-Factory hydraulic system and high speed PTO. Currently the hydraulic system runs a hydraulic Warn 8274. Could easily put a higher capacity hydraulic winch on there.
-Fast axles, code A11. When you pull the vin it doesn’t show as fast axles but they must have been installed by the fire department.
-Working/crawl gear groups installed in Europe before export. Shift levers or pneumatic shifting not yet installed.
-The entire interior is immaculate. Very heavy factory soundproofing compared to any other unimog I’ve been in. Much quieter than other U1550 fire trucks I’ve owned.
-Currently on tubeless 365/80r20 studded tires. It’s about to be winter in Colorado so I’m leaving these on it for now but I have a set of new 365/80r20 XZLs I could potentially include for the right offer if the buyer didn’t want studded tires. I also have Hutchinson rims if that were appealing.
-Truck is currently located in Colorado and is road legal/legally imported as a fire truck. Currently have temporary registration but will be plated with Montana perm plates as an RV. If you have a Montana LLC can be transferred to you with no sales tax to preserve the perm RV registration. Just waiting for the title to come back from state of Montana but they are fairly slow currently so I decided to list before we get a ton of snow here.
-I have ~120 photos from various angles.
-Truck can be seen in the Denver area of Colorado by appointment. I’m located in Boulder County near Nederland.
-PM me with any questions. I will send many more photos than what is in the add as well.
Things I fixed/modified:
-rebuilt brake calipers
-replaced air compressor
-installed working gear box
-redid hub seals in front
-replaced battery
-replaced brake master cylinder
Vehicle is currently in excellent working order. Cold starts immediately and engine pulls very well.
Truck is no longer for sale unless a buyer is seriously interested. I'm already going through the truck and fixing/updating things. Honestly this vehicle has too many options so I'm not sure I'll be able to find another one as nice ever again.
