A few days ago I picked up this 1996 E350 ambulance for only $4k. The transmission is on its way out, but I wasn't too concerned about that given that I'm planning a 4wd conversion anyway. A little extra motivation to get it done quicker!
What I got:
The Plan (in no particular order):
What I got:
- 1996 E350 Mini Mod with 155k miles
- 7.3 diesel with E4OD automatic transmission
- Arizona van which came to Colorado in 2017. ZERO rust!
- Dealer serviced and maintained for the life of the vehicle, huge stack of receipts.
- All "ambulance" parts still operational: sirens, lights etc.
The Plan (in no particular order):
- De-Ambulize. I hate the idea of driving around in an ambulance so the lights etc. have to go.
- Fix broken door hinge.
- Paint exterior anything other than red.
- 4x4 conversion. Most likely MG metalworks. Since the transmission is on its way out, i'll probably do the diesel tank, transmission, transfer case, rear driveshaft first. Then do the front end when I have time.
- Remove all the ambulance wiring. There's a ton of it!
- Build the inside; nothing fancy, but functional.
