I am selling our incredible 2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road that is a turn-key Overland build with a fully-loaded Alu-Cab Khaya camper. I am the 2nd owner and purchased from another Expedition Portal member in Sept. 2020 with 28k miles. All regular maintenance at Toyota dealerships or authorized Toyota mechanics. 90% of our miles have been highway/interstate driving. We are creative industry professionals in our 50’s, non-smokers.

Please send me any questions in the thread or PM. We are selling the truck due to restlessness and our recent move to living in the Mojave desert (now we don’t need to travel here anymore!). The truck has been detailed in & out is sitting in our driveway, awaiting its new owners! This is a rare combo. It's a real head-turner. We have been fortunate and proud to call this rig a family member.

The great/new stuff:
  • Brand new BFG KO2's just installed, >1,000 miles (new April ’24)
  • Brand new Firestone Ride-Rite airbags and new HD cradles (new March ’24)
  • Freshly powder coated armor (bumpers, rock sliders, misc. protection pieces, March ’24)
  • Brand new windshield (Dec. ’23)
  • Fresh ceramic exterior treatment
  • Refurbished suspension front & rear & new 700# coil-over springs (May ’24)
  • Fortified/custom Khaya mounting hardware (March '24)
The less-than-perfect:
  • Cruise control sensor currently not calibrated (radar/distance). Original owner replaced the grill and didn’t have the forward radar recalibrated at the dealer. It’s never been an issue for us.
  • TPMS not installed
  • Very minor surface rust in nooks and crannies of the undercarriage. I’ve gotten rid of most of it with CLR solution & a simple wire brush, but some remains

Curious how it runs with the 5.29s and 33s on the highway? I get the need for the regear completely and see how the 5.29s are necessary for the weight and the trailer. I‘m just curious as a former longtime Tacoma owner who didnt regear my 2nd gen about what RPMs at highway speeds you run. And the MPG with that setup?

Very nice rig! GLWS!

Thanks, dstefan!

The new gearing is great! I don't really go over 75~80mph on the interstates. 70~80mph feels like the 'sweet-spot" for the long hauls. The MPG is between 12~14 on level trips, 10~12 on the rare occasion we pull the trailer.

I think the RPM are 2500~3000 on the interstates, but I'll need to pay better attention and confirm that.
