Upgraded to an LC

5Runner

Adventurer
I decided to upgrade from my 4runner to a Land Cruiser. Thanks for all the help in making this decision

Here he is, in all of his stock beauty. The transformation to expedition rig will begin soon...and likely never end.

The only details worth sharing:
1999 100 series
Rear e-locker
Limited
147K miles

Yup, that's right...sitting at my house right now. See my little 3rd gen in the background.

First minor mods:
-Removing running boards
-Removing 3rd row seat
-Removing cheesy aftermarket wheel flares (why am I cursed with wheel flares that I hate, and everyone else wants!)
-Sell them all for mod money.

First major mod:
A very nice welding set up. Before the lift or the tires, I am buying a welder.

Moving over from my runner, unless a buyer will pay for them:
Dual yellow top battery setup
CB and antenna
Winch (have to get the bumper first, but the winch will be waiting)

This is my second rig to build, and I am going to take care to do it right from the start.

NOTE: BUILT 3RD GEN 4RUNNER FOR SALE THIS WINTER. PICS, DETAILS AND ASKING PRICE TO BE POSTED SOON. PM'S OKAY. ONLY BUYERS THAT ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR A BUILT RIG...I AM IN NO HURRY TO SELL. YOU WILL GET A GOOD DEAL, BUT WILL NOT GET MY EXPENSIVE MODS FOR FREE. I WILL BE HONEST ABOUT EVERYTHING, AS MOST OF MY PROBLEMS, REPAIRS AND MODIFICATIONS CAN BE FOUND POSTED ON A FORUM SOMEWHERE.

Congrats! I'm not sure if I'm a guy with a metal cutting & welding problem or visa versa with an LC problem ;-)

But I understand where you're going!

Nice,

Can't see the pics at work, so what year? I am guessing 100 series due to the seat belt discussion from last week....

I like that color. Nice rig. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is no such thing as a "Limited" LC?

Klierslc - it's a 100.

I just went from a rubicon unlimited to a 99 landcruiser with high miles I couldnt be happier. Now I just need to gather up some coins and head to a little shop in golden and spend spend spend. Then I will have a sweet sleed landcruiser.

Congratulations! Seemed like the logical choice for the growing family. You'll have to change your screen name soon. :smiley_drive:

Yup...I have my eye on some Slee products as well. A nice chat with Christo Slee and a tour of his built LX470 was one of the final bits of research that led to my decision.

I am really excited to start this build, but still a little sore about having to give up my runner. It kind of feels like if I were to buy a new dog before my old dog even died. I love that 4runner, so it was a really hard decision to make.

Now, for probably the only time in my life, I own 4 toyotas! I am keeping my runner until I get the LC built sufficiently enough to replace it...probably 6 mo to a year...just depends on my cash flow and time.

It will be nice to have the LC stationary at my house all winter. I plan to really refurbish it from the engine to the interior. Lots of tinkering in my future.

I look forward to learning lots about my 100 series from you guys. I have been scanning signatures for mods that catch my attention.

SWEET!!!!! Glad after all the deliberation you ended up with the Hundy.... She looks, no good doesn't quite say it. She looks Simply Fabulous . So I assume that she fufills the needs discussed in your previuos thread??? Great color BTW, looks like the same charcol grey as on my 4runner (and a color I'm fairly positive EVERY Toyota came in this color as an option at somepoint)

Can't wait to see this one grow-up and become an awesome truck.

Cheers
