Using fridge/freezer at home

Great question. I was thinking the same thing, but as a beer fridge in the garage??

That's exactly where mine is and what it does when not in the back of the Subie!

Right now it's stocked with Beamish Stout, though the Mrs. occasionally slips some actual food in there if the kitchen fridge/freezer is full!

What would you estimate a 40-qt. Engel would add to the monthly electric bill running 24/7? It doesn't seem like it would be that much.

Great stuff to know - I have an ARB that last week had to become my emergency fridge when the home unit died, my wife is sure happy now I spent the money on it, and we cant wait to use it out on the trail when I get my bed/camper storage built

They use miniscule amounts of power. Some homes that are off the grid or are low power usage use 3-4 car fridges.
And with the transit bag for insulation, they are even better. Plus, since they open from the top the cold air doesn't fall out when you open the door.

The ARB/Engle always makes the wife happy. You might catch flack if she finds out how much it cost, but that anger is short lived. Next thing you know, you'll need two.
