Van shopping

So I am starting to travel more for my job and I have been thinking about getting a RV but then I started doing some searching online after I watched Mountain State Overland videos on youtube. I fell in love with Boomer the van. I now would love to get a 4x4 converted F-350 van. But I am curious to see who all installed a 30 or 50 amp service for the campgrounds. I have found a few schematics from the Ford Chinook models but I was thinking about not using a generator but use solar panels instead. I would be building the interior myself and I will most likely get the Fiberine 30" Super Camper Top also. What I was thinking is instead of cutting the entire roof for the fiberglass top I would leave enough roof for a twin sized mattress up top which would allow the entire bottom for more luxuries. I travel about a month at a time for work, 6 days a week 12 hours a day usually, during the spring and fall.

As far as the 4x4 conversion, I am wanting to do the Ujoint Offroad 6" lift Stage 1 conversion. I already have 35" tires and 17" 8 lug steel wheels that I was going to use for a previous project that ended up getting sold top purchase my 2013 Jeep JKU.

Thanks in advance!

I think most folks here end up doing solar and 12v DC systems (fridge, lighting etc) and a smaller inverter, about 600w, for the occasional AC power needs. You can even get 12v LCD televisions. Probably best to figure out what your electrical needs are first then work around that.

In terms of "shore power" some of the nicer inverters support this and also provide battery charging when plugged in, but if not it wouldn't be hard to design the correct switching to isolate/change over the DC inverter and go to shore power when plugged in.
