The idea behind a dual battery kit is that you use your main battery for starting only, and use the auxillary or extra battery for accessories, such as winch, off-road lights, Fridge, CB, etc... you name it....
The kit isolates the batteries when the ignition is off. When the ignition is on and vehicle is started, isolation continues for 5 minutes to give main battery time to recharge, then the system automatically connects both batteries, so both will charge. The whole system is monitored by incab control that displays status of both batteries and status of this system. From the incab monitor, you can also override the system to connect both batteries manually, before system does...so, you could actually jump start yourself or connect both batteries for any other situation that may arrise. Maybe you drain one battery or the other and need to connect them both...you can do it by pressing a button.
