Transporter? You dont have to worry about those here.. VW'll put you in a Dodge Grand Caravan and call it a Routan.

Yeah quite a few owners with the CFCA motor have had issues, the redesigned egr looks like it might of helped, time will tell.

my warranty finished last month, so it will be interesting to see if the redesigned egr fixes that issue

EGR Cooler was corroding and engine is ingesting aluminum? wth.. that sounds like some chinesium got into the supply chain...

I had a 2.0L CR TDI, was a fantastic engine.. shame that one had such issues, but ******** happens.. not that widespread as it was only Diesel Transporters, chalk this up to ever tightening emissions requirements nerfing all the reliability out of the diesel platform.

I think that the emissions requirements have reduced the reliability of the Diesel for sure.

I send my oil in to be tested before each service, so i can see what's happening in there, i'm lucky that my model came with the upgraded egr.

although time will tell.

how would someone do that? and is it costly? thanks

It's commonly used in the industrial world, as you can imagine that some of these larger machines hold a lot of expensive oil, the oil test checks for metals and oil condition, its more about saving money from not needing to change oil while keeping tabs on your engine for the larger machines.

I just order in a kit, when i'm ready to test the oil, i've gotten them from CAT dealer before and now i just use an oil testing company here in Aus.

It should be around $20 usd, i don't think its too expensive, considering a new engine is around 13-15k AUD for my vehicle, its an easy non evasive way to see monitor the internals
