These are incredibly useful tools.

I wasn't too sure of them when we first started talking about adding them to the motorcycle recover class that Tom Collins and I were teaching at the Overland Expo. But we figured that they might come in handy from time to time, so what the heck, right? I mean, wasn't that the point of the class - to demonstrate tools and techniques that travelers can use to get themselves moving again?

After the first demo - I was convinced. Not only will they get your 750 pound adventure bike out of the sand (they make this an easy task) - but for moving down trees that are blocking trails, moving boulders during your landscaping project, hanging a barn door, putting tension on a fence you are building, and pretty much any other time you could use a bit of pulling/lifting help.

Unlike hand winches that require two people to efficiently recover a stuck motorcycle, the Warn winch has a remote with a decent length lead so you can operate the winch while sitting astride your bike, so recovery is greatly simplified.

Seriously, these are great tools to have - particularly if you are traveling solo.

It really doesn't bunch up; it's like any of our other winches. It does have a hawse fairlead, too.

I second Brian's comments...these are really incredible. A very useful tool if your rides take you far away from support, and tons of day to day uses.
