Water Storage

I can't seem to find just what I'm looking for in search.
I'm looking at designing out the back of my 110 from scratch, which is a nice prospect.

Onboard water is a concern. I want to just lay something across the wheel wells (using the space underneath for recovery gear/tools/spares and heavy stuff) and use the 1/2 by the rear seats for water storage. So far I have some Scepter cans and the thing I really like about them is the total lack of plastic taste. That's a big requirement, that I don't taste metal or plastic in water that may sit for a week or so at a time.

The problem is the cans stick up too high which reduces over all useful space for storag and mainly for the two medium dogs we have. So the space I have to work with is about 36" wide X 8.5" tall X 12-18" front to back (of the truck). I was thinking of getting a tank fabbed up at a local boating shop but am still concerned about taste.

Does anyone have experience getting their own tank made or with using a bladder like this?

Besides the footwell in front of the rear seats, where I can fit about 6 10L cans, this is the next best low to the frame place that won't need a ton of lashing.

There was a nice stainless steel water tank for the rear footwell of a D110 for sale on the HUBB that I was considering a while back. I've attached pics. I still have the email address of the seller if you are interested. It seems like a pretty nice tank, though I can't speak to the taste of it. I have an SS tank in my 110 and have had no taste issues.

For underbody integrated tanks you might check out:

I think Nathan at Pangaea may be brining some of their stuff in.

Also the guys that make the long ranger tanks do a range of water tanks as well - pretty sure they'd have something.

Thanks for the pointers.

I might take you up on the offer Graham, but I need to figure out the floor space first. That other site has exactly what I want as far as additional fuel tans, but when I filled out the "Contact Us" I got a bounce for their info@ address. :(

Yeah, I don't have any affiliation with those guys, so I don't know their set-up. WVA Holdings is the company that makes the tanks. You may be able to find them. I have one of their long range tanks.

Great idea Jonathan. Can I ask what something like that cost to have fabbed up? I know each region is different, but a ball park would give me an idea how far my imagination could go.

I can't find the link right now but there are companies that make water bladders that fit inside body panels, vehicle specific. I am sure they are available for 60 and 80 series LC's, probably others as well. I'll try to find the co web site next week when I have more time

Snap! I found it!

The first pic is a generic bladder, second is for a 100 series LC, third is for a 60 series LC.
The shapes look like you could adapt them to a lot of different rigs.
