This is my current in progress build of my 2005 Jeep WK into an overlander. I am transitioning from a Moab XJ trail guy into an Overland guy. Still new to it so bare with me and shout out about my dumb ideas.

Started with a stock 05 WK with the 4.7L with the QTII 4wd system. This is how it looked then, and now.

Modify OME Lift to fit 33" tires

Adventure trailer to pull around... that build is already being planned.
2nd gas tank in spare tire space (15 mpg right now)

Started with a sub par hood strut, so I added an additional one. (It originally only had one).

The lighting inside was terrible. I changed all the interior lights with LED's, then added some more LED's to the cargo area. I wired them into the existing wiring harness so they function the same as the other interior lights.

I then added my CB and Switch for my Grill Lights. I used a small cubby on the left side of the steering wheel in the dash.

I had a silver WJ and used to do this same, exact thing.

Next was the Grill light install. Made some simple custom light mounts. Love how they turned out.

Took the air dam off and had a weird little lip left. Found some edge trim and it dressed it up nice.

Next was a little vanity touches. Painted the brake calipers blue. Then put some vinyl striping on it. Something to stand out a bit from the other mall crawlers.

Also added some ORT 8 and other badges from rebadge designs. ORT = Off-Road Technology, a spin on the whole SRT thing.

In preparations for a lift and tires, I cut the pinch welds and folded them under. This allowed for more room without rubbing. It is a common mod for the Jeep WK's.

Now the lift. I went with the Old Man Emu HD lift. I had that lift on my old Land Rover Disco and loved the ride. My Brother had some old BFG's off his JK laying around and let me use them for a bit.

Installed some LED cup holder lights, and picked up some Rubicon take-off's. I like the look.

Took a little trip to test it out.
