For Sale is my one of a kind, well built, custom 4x4 Van. Only reason I am selling is because my daily driver needs major repairs and I'm having to make this tough choice.
The Details:
The van was built by an east coast race track Home Pit Crew in the mid 80's. The engineers and mechanics that built this van were the best. They took a Ford F-350, lifted it 10 inches and then modified it like pros to house a E150 van on top. Not only did they make it incredible to see, they made it a beast in the turns. The entire drivetrain sits in a custom built cage underneath the van to displace the weight and prevent top heaviness. See pics.
I bought this van 2 years ago with intentions to do an Alaska to Baja trip one day in it. I have been working on it to be an expedition ready rig and have recently done several repairs and modifications to make it better.
The engine is a Cleveland 351M (direct gear drive) so no timing belt to fail. Also has all new MSD ingition module & coil with new HD distributor, HD Alternator, and new Platinum Gel battery.
C6 Transmission was recently rebuilt from Universal Transmission in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
T-case is the 205
Front axle is an HD44 with new Warn Locking hubs, new ball joints and new bearings, with disc brakes
Rear is a D60 with drums
Dual tanks hold plenty of fuel for adventures.
Suspension is beefy with components you would expect a Pit Crew to choose for their own rig. Also has new bushings on the engine mounts and radius arms.
Shocks should be changed out with something that can handle the 37's and offroad use. Currently has ProComp Explorers but they are older. I recommend something like the Procomp MX6 shocks or equivalent.
Bumpers are beast as you can see in the pics and have light mounted front and rear.
Roof rack is Aluminum with a solid rear ladder and has a full deck up top for storage or you could even pop your tent up there.
Tires are 37 x12.5 Goodyear MTR Military OZ Humvee specs with good tread and a full sized spare.
Interior holds 3 captains chairs and a rear bed platform with storage underneath.
The floors are rubber over carpet for easy cleaning and the floor plan allows for storage from the rear to the front seat. I surf and can fit a couple 9'6 surfboards across.
There is a cargo net mounted inside for board storage, gear storage, etc...
Stereo is all digital, no CD, plays USB, SD, phones and MP3
There is a right side camera mounted to the rear view so you can see your blind side in a monitor on the dash.
Has a new CB that just needs to be tuned.
Van is currently located in the San Diego area (Carlsbad) but can be delivered for the cost of travel.
The vinyl lettering has been removed.
I've put a lot of time and money into this van. So there you have it. Now do you want it? I'm asking only $10,000, (priced for a quick sale.) You will get offers for much more as you drive it around on your adventures. I wish I had got those peoples phones numbers but I never expected to sell it. Am willing to let it go because I have to get my car so I can work. The history behind this van alone makes it worth much more.
