ha...Pics soon to come. i havent bought it yet. Still have to meet with the guy. Im on the top of his list, so Im meeting up with him in Bama sometime soon. Its red with black steelie outlaw lookin Pacer wheels. But other than that, super stock. The chassis, engine, inside, PAINT, all look awesome. BUT, looks can be deceiving, so it will all come down to the test drive and stuff. We'll see, and Ill get pics.

it doesnt have a roof rack though, but I dig this dudes roof rack, so I might be ok with out it.

I am into the gearing thing, and I am on the same page with you about how I use my 4wd. I dont have the money for the hardcore yet, but I still make my 4x4 work for me...ha.

When I had my auto/3.0, it was easy to tell that that tranny/engine/gearing combo had an extremely limited tire range with its gear ratio's. Yet another reason I want the 5 spd. I have heard of Marlins R150, so ill look at that.

Thanks to all.

hey, what about an 85 pickup, 4wd, 157k, rebuilt motor and tranny, good shape? What do you all think?

For a dedicated trail rig, that would be awesome. I believe that was the last year for SFA. If it were me, though, I would pick an 85 4Runner over the Truck. I love that removable top. :D And especially if this were going to be driven on a daily basis, 4Runner wins hands down.

I understand that, BUT, there isnt an 85 runner around for this price..ha. So not an option. Its between this and the 92 4runner.

Agreed, but the 85 PU would still be fun. Be aware, they're beyond cramped in the standard cab... BEYOND CRAMPED!!!!!!

That's why I said "only for a dedicated trail rig" the PU would be cool. If not, yeah, that single cab gets stuffy! I feel so claustophobic in my friend's single cab Taco. This is why I love the 1st Gen 4Runner so much more. I've actually been casually looking for a 85-89 4Runner 4x4 22RE/5sp for a while now. Hard to find one in decent shape.

Exrunner - If you're going to drive this thing frequently, I would go with the 4Runner. If it's just your weekend trail toy, that 85 PU would be awesome. Or just wait around for a 1st Gen 4Runner or save up for a 3rd Gen w/locker. :26_7_2:

Aaahhhh!!!!

Thats a bummer to hear! Im going to look at the 85 in a minute actually. Ok heres another thing...Im about to graduate college in May, and I have a job lined up, so I will be able to get another ride after that, so would you all tough it out for a couple of months in the 85???

A couple of months isn't bad. It's not like you're stuffed in there like sardines or something. I was just saying if I had to drive that thing on a daily basis, it would not be that comfortable. But you could definitely tough it out for 2 months.

If it checks out and the price is right, it would be an awesome rig to own.

This is Not true..........

And actually.........if you do a search here at ExPo..........the answers to all your questions are right here. Let's not put out bad info.

I have the 3.0V6 Auto and I love it. I have 31" tires and my Factory Stock 4:10 gears do fine. If I choose to go up to 32" or 33" tires ......there are gears available to take care of this just as on a 5speed pickup. Changing gears is what one should expect to do anyway with either Auto or 5 speed. The transmission has no bearing on this.

I think it's time to click around ExPo....................

actually, its not bad info, lets not get high and mighty. You might have misunderstood. I understand that there are different dif gear ratio's that one can choose from to compensate for a larger diameter tire. What I meant to, much more clearly, state is that for a 3.0 auto with a cetain differential gear ratio, it can hardly take a slight increase in tire size without losing its marbles. This is to say that you keep the original gear ratio. You take it as if I dont know that others are available. I understand this, but if you retain the stock gears with an auto, depending on what size tire it came with from the factory (4.88 if 31" tires, 4.56 for the smaller which is what mine was) then if you step up hardly at all in size, it dramatically affects its performance. From what I have driven and heard, its not as much of an affect, although it will still have an affect, on a 5 speed. Changing gear ratios is an enitirely different topic.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Yeah the 85 was a bit small. Im not big by any means, but Im kinda tall, so it still didnt work out. NEXT.
