What to look for when buying used 100 series

I currently own a 2013 Rubicon Unlimited with a 2.5" AEV lift and 33" tires, but I would like more interior space and improved ride and reliabilty. I'm looking at purchasing a 2004-2007 landcruiser for improved reliability, more interior space, longevity, and improved ride. What are the common "issues" to look for when considering a LC with 90-140k miles? Plans would be to upgrade springs and shocks with OME and add 33" BFG's. This will become my daily driver and I'll add about 20k miles per year and engage in mild overlanding and camping throughout the Midwest.

I love Toyota reliability and I'm a die hard Toyota fan. I also understand the need for more interior space. However, I'm surprised that you're looking to purchase a 100 series with 90 - 140k miles and you cite longevity and reliability as a benefit over your 2013 Wrangler. Not sure how high on your list reliability falls, but I'd guess that a brand new Wrangler will be more reliable than a 90 - 140k Cruiser. I could, however, be very wrong...

Curious as to what reliability issues you have with the jeep?

As to what to look for, the link above will pretty much cover it. Other wise its a solid, reliable, roomy over lander that wins me over with every added mile. At first it felt like it lacked character of the euro and wrangler breeds but then it never fails and exceeds my expectations off road. And instead of worrying what parts to pack for the trip you get to look ahead to the good times with friends and family! Sorry I was no help :)

Ih8mud.com has almost every aspect of LC's covered. I'd start with the FAQ's for 100's. I will say use the search function on the site extensively before you actually post a question. There is a significant "Search First" group there that LOVE to go off on anyone who asks questions.
