Where did you mount your CB or Ham Antenna

Well here I go again. I can't decide where to mount the ham antenna on my FJ60, I bought the mount to mount it by the hood but I just don't know.

Pictures of where you mount yours would be great.

I really don't want to go thru the roof.

On the spare tire mount of my 40. A Larsen 1/2-wave 2m antenna tuned up quite well. A foot or two of whip height above the roof line gives decent range; not as good as a 5/8-wave on a metal roof, but acceptable.

Side mount was on it when I got it. Don't usually run an antenna there when I'm going through tight spaces.

Lip mount on the rear hatch with either a fold over or a stubby one that can absorb hits from low branches/overhangs

Bumper mounted antennas

I tried mounting one to my bumper and found it really distracting. Especially when on terrain that was technical.

Is it something you just get used to?

I had it mounted on my passenger front corner and used it as a marker so I knew exactly where my corner was in tight trails. I liked having it...

I got used to it.

It was easier for me to run the coax from the front bumper than to figure out a way to run the coax to the back (swing arm, how to attach to the top portion of the hatch, etc).

Never been a distraction for me having it mounted at the bumper corner.

My 2m antenna is lip-mounted like Cabrito's, same mount, same two antennas- taller for wide open spaces, rubber for branches/trails. CB like BoxRocket's, and is on a spring. It works good as a feeler for the roof/rack line. I only have it attached when (rarely) used. :D
