Where to find an Ambulance?

Hello, this is my first post on expedition portal, so go easy.

I have decided that I want to get a type III ambulance, but have had trouble finding one near me (San Francisco). I know of fentonfire and ambulancetrader and more, but none of the listings are in California. There are a few craigslist postings near me, but the vehicles are very run down and rusty. I would like to find an ambulance from California that is being retired.

Does anyone have any tips on how to go about finding them? Is there some online resource I do not know about? Should I just start calling around to all the fire depts and paramedics around?

Yeah, I know govplanet, too. All of the ambulances on these sites are from the east coast / central states. There are none from the west coast. I thought that there must be a different resource that the gov/paramedics are using over here.

The one in Denver is really nice for a Type II, but I think the Type III in Seattle is more practical for a camper. The one in Helena looks like it was rode hard and put up wet.

I found mine on www.Ambulancetrader.com and bought it directly from the Volunteer Fire Department that had it for sale. I have been fairly happy with the purchase.

I would recommend taking a look at Global Emergency Vehicles as they seem to be a reputable reseller. www.globalemergencyvehicles.com

Firetec is another national reseller. http://www.firetec.com/

I would also recommend www.Searchtempest.com for searching craigslist for your region.
