It is the TRD Off Road Rugged Trail that has been the topic of another thread.

The Rugged Trail adds some stickers, black wheels, black fenders, and thats all.

You'r right and i'm wrong, well mostly

has Toyota upgraded the brakes on the newest generation Tacomas? is the comfort level in the driver's seat better than the older Tacomas (I have a 04 4 door 4 wheel drive, and I am 6'3", my 04 driver's seat is not that comfortable).

Well, I am not having any problem with my NON-Trd Model. Most of us are modding the truck anyways and tossing a lot of the trd off road stuff any ways (getting better shocks for instance) If you have no plans to put and ARB Locker on it then get the TRD OFF ROAD. But if you plan on up grading the shocks and putting on an after market air locker then there is no need to pay the extra unless you really got to have those nicer seats:shakin:. I am just joking with you Jacket, no worries.

You don't think those seats are worth 3 grand??:shakin:

I don't disagree at all - I will admit I essentially paid the money just to get the e-locker. The seats are just butta. The TRD suspension, on the other hand, is not....

It's all in the e-locker. At first I wanted a TRD Off Road, but there where none in an Access cab and Radiant Red (I already had the matching canopy) within 500 miles of Eugene OR, so I had to go with the Non-Trd Model. Now that I look back on it, I am happy that I did not get one. I know I will get an ARB air locker someday.

This is just bad, misguided advice. You have personal issues with your truck that you should not project onto others. There is WAY too much evidence that points the other way..

I gave an opinion that was requested, not advice.

Just because we love our rigs and sink tons of money in them does not mean we have to cheerlead all the time. The fantasy must (or should) give way to realization.

I am not trashing tacodocs rig or anyones for that matter. I do love my truck. I just would not take it to South America looking for adventure.

I have an 05 TRD Sport model (non-locker). I love it.

Yes my other thread about the off-road edition with Baja wheels = why bother....(you could do the same for less http://expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11007
unless of course you want to buy the extended warranty...)

I have a manual. I like the feel of a stick... I looked at the frontier:eek:
Really had nothing to complain about it(frontier). But I did look at aftermarket support and parts.. I liked the quality of Aftermarket for the Toyota better. Head room was also slightly better in the taco IMHO, a little more room in the backseat for my son.

I bought mine used (12k). It now has 81k on it.. (bought it in Dec 06) Ouch... Was my daily driver.. No longer.. With my Lift (Donahoe & Deavers) plus 265/75/16's ( i down sized the rims due to price and availability of tires 17" wasn't thrilling me...)

I have a Horizon.. I tow it often.. I put in two extra thick leaf springs in the rear after towing with it for the first 4 months. The original 10 pack was sagging and giving me greif on the streets). I average about 10-15 miles per gallon depending on what's going on.. my current lift/springs makes it look almost stock in appearance. No real leveling per se.. It looks level with the horizon on it..

The seats are more comfortable compared to the 04's IMHO. I recently met Chris M (BajaTaco) and he tested an 05. He was commenting that he liked the 05 seats comfort better on our snow run...

No locker in mine.... Depends on your wheeling ability... I'm going to regear for gas milage with the trailer to 4.88's. I'll probably add a locker at the same time.. I've gotten stuck twice.. It may have helped to get out.. But airing down more got me out at Pyramid and I needed a small tug from Chris during our snow run..

Good luck..
