I tried a set of late model 17" Dodge wheels on my 89 E-150 and the hub pilot hole was too small on the Dodge wheels. Could've been cut to fit the hub but the return lip's strength and wheel cracking was a concern.
Currently have 2004 E-150 16" steel wheels in place of my original 15" steel wheels. Being able to run tires with a shorter, stiffer sidewall was the whole point and my load range E Cooper HT3 tires have been a major improvement over the XL rated 15s.
