Hello all. This is my first post. I've been looking for years for a Wildernest that would fit my Ford Ranger, but being in Alaska the last three years I've had a lot less to choose from, even though it seems I see them around Anchorage all the time. After scouring craigslist almost daily, I found one for sale nearby. The only problems were that it is for a full size 8 ft bed, and I'm currently deployed overseas. I had my wife go and look at it, and even though there are some pretty sizable holes in the tent, the guy wanted $100 for it and I couldn't turn that down. I figured, since I'm going to be PCS'ing to Ft. Lewis in the next few months I might as well get a truck bed trailer to put the wildernest on which will also help with the move. I found a fiberglass utility bed on a trailer and had my wife take a look at that and give them a deposit for it to hold it until I get back. Here are some pictures of what I'm working with-

And the Wildernest-

I haven't seen either the trailer or the Wildernest in person, but from the pictures of the trailer it looks like I'm going to have to cut that sliding top off. It looks like it's made of metal but I can't be certain. My wife said she thinks it's wood, but I have a really hard time believing that.
I've gotten a lot of ideas and inspiration from these forums and even though I haven't started on this project at all, I wanted to make a post and see if any of you have any suggestions. I'm completely new to this, and honestly I have very little (no) fabrication experience. Is there anything I should look for, specifically with the trailer, when I get back? It needs to make it from Alaska to Washington. I probably won't really start working on it until I get it down there. Thanks in advance for any help.
