Will a Snug top support a 3 person roof top tent?

I have a snug top xtra vision with the rails for a rack from the factory. I want to put a three person tent on top and I think it would be ok. If need be I can sleep two people over the shell and one off the shell and I guess the ladder would support that person. Maybe the number of support bars makes a difference distributing the weight? Are the tops on JKs fiberglass?

depends...

I have a SnugTop SnugPro on my rig. This is a commercial version that has a reinforced roof. They state that the roof capacity of my top is 500 lbs. I'm not sure what your topper capacity is, I would call and get the specs directly from SnugTop.

Hope this helps.

Nice truck! What size wheels 18 or 20 and tires 295/? Do you get a lot of wind noise off the snorkel? I'll probably ditch the RTT until I get a trailer.

Thanks! I'm running 17" TRD forged alloys that are powder coated black. The tire size is 295/70 R17...Hardly any wind noise off my snorkel. But then again, this is my 2nd vehicle with a snorkel. I'm probably used to it.

I went with a trailer with a RTT. Much more functional...I don't like to be too top heavy.

Post up pics when you get a chance!

What tent is on your trailer? I'm trying to ditch my 20 in rims and didn't know if 17s will fit on my 2013. I found a pro comp wheel I like, but it's not available in 5x150 bolt! Makes my head hurt LOL. I have a bunch of equipment I need to put on.

I have a SnugPro also. But the regular Snug top I think are rated 250lbs. If you add their Sportsman Package to it I believe it is around 350. The type of rack you have and the way it is mounted needs to be considered also. The Thule, Yakima racks installed in tracks are rated to 250 I hear.
And all of this is considered moving weight. So just sleeping in a parked location should be good. Check with the manufacturing companies to be sure. Better safe than sorry.
