Expedition Leader
William Eggleston is credited for, among other achievements, bringing color photography into the sphere of museum collections. Eggleston's eccentric, provocative exposures of banal subjects in the American South during the 1960s and 1970s are highly prized by collectors today. Make that "some collectors." Eggleston's style has as many detractors as supporters.

It's worth taking a few minutes to learn about Eggleston's approach to photography. Here are a couple of links from his website.
