Windshield wipers

George at Extreme Outback is carrying some very interesting wiper blade called the Scrublade.

"These twin blade wipers have a scrubber surface on the leading edge of the outer blades. During the wiper stroke, the outer blade "scrubs" the windshield and the second blade squeegee's it clean. Then on the reverse stroke the exact same thing happens".

I'm going to pick up a set next time I see him.

I'm running Silblades, and love them... We're testing the scrublade on the KJ.

I have tried many aftermarket blades on our Cruisers, and for some reason, all the aftermarket blades miss the outer section of the right side of the windscreen, where it curves back, on both trucks. I stick with OE Toyota blade assemblies and refills. The blades are actually quite different, right and left, with the pressure points in different areas and the right one is curved more with more spring tension. Since I figure Toyota will someday discontinue them, I have 2 more complete blade assemblies new in the boxes for each rig and several refills.

I just keep an extra set in the Jeep. I have yet to find a 13" blade that isn't a piece of crap. Even the one the dealer sells is garbage. Oh well.

I just picked up the RainEx blades for the DII. Used the part number listed by RainEx to be compatible and I can not get them to fit.

The Scrub Blade looks interesting!

I tried Silblade Flexblades on my LC. Got 2-years out of them before they started smearing. And despite their warranty claim they wouldn't replace them because they "weren't defective".

Smoke me once shame on you...smoke me twice shame on me!

Snow Blades for Winter

I run two sets of blades, just like tires.

Winter/snow blades & regular wiper blades for the summer/heat season (no reason to let the winter blades cook in the sun).

I really don't like it when regular blades freeze and stop working because of ice.

I'm a big fan of the ANCO Contour blades. In Houston, anyone driving on the highway gets their windshield sandblasted over the years. It seems most easily noticed in the early morning or at dusk during times of glare. Conventional wiper blade refills just don't cut it. They are expensive, but the ANCO Contour blades provide an almost factory-fresh windshield, even when it is full of the highway sandblasting effect. I have never been happier. My first set lasted about 18 months which isn't by any stretch, a long time. It was as near perfect a windshield wipe the whole 18 months, though.
