If your going to wire lights, I presume you'll want an on off switch ?
as hard wiring to a live socket just means your on all the time.
or were you thinking of adding more sockets where the lights are and plug in as required ?
If so fused is safer, just get an in line blade fuse and wire direct to the battery, or just make your own using 2 blade crimp sockets, a blade fuse and some heat shrink.
Those plastic add a wire crimps suck, as others suggested a soldered and heat shrunk joint is way better...get the 3m version with glue inside for a complete weather proof connection.
