WK2 RTT on stock rails advise

Hey guys, I'm considering buying a knock off Autohome Columbus tomorrow morning. All I currently have are the stock jeep cross bars for a roof rack. It worked just fine with my yakima loadwarrior and 32.5" tire/rim on top. I won't have time to change out the rails by tomorrow morning if I do pick up the tent.

Do you think it will be a problem mounting it to the stock bars? The RTT is approx. 91" long which means the front mount/ cross bar will be about two feet behind the front of the RTT. The RTT will end up hanging over the windshield a bit.

I know I can make something work in the long run but I will have to mount it up and drive it home over 250 miles.

What do you think? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks guys

I had a WK2 with factory crossbars on top. They are pretty wide. I would make sure the brackets under the RTT are wide enough to go over the cross bars. Also, if I remember right the factory bars have a slight curve in them. The RTT might not fit flush on top of the bars.

Just going of the top of my head on both. Good luck.

Yes, they do have a curve to them and the roof curves as well. The rails will end up being about a foot narrower than the RTT. It's going to be a long trip to find out it won't work.

Seriouslly considering trading in the mall crawler for a Rubi JKU tonight. Not enought options for the WK2.

Thakns for the info!

I have Rocky Road HD roof rails on my WK and the work great for my RTT. They make the same ones for the WK2.

Well, as much as I loved my murdered out WK2, the lack of aftermarket support has finally gotten to me. I decided to trade her in for a JKU Rubicon. A more capable vehicle with tons of parts to choose from. This will be my 5th jeep and 4th wrangler. Time to start modding again.
