WTB Lada Niva

Looking for a budget project and thought getting a compacted expo rig with great fuel economy would be a fun project. I'm in Colorado so Lada's in Canada might be an issue but I'm willing to try to figure out the logistics. If anyone has a line on one of these rigs let me know. Looking in the under 3K range.

As you know, they sold these here in Canada throughout the 90's. I almost bought one in 1996 ($10k for a brand new Niva "Cossack"). I can't even remember the last time I saw one on the road. They did not last long, especially with our winter salt.

the few that work well, are still *very* spartan, ... although, I must say that they are the right size for a compact 4x4... back in the day I considered one with a diesel peugeot engine on it... but I went Land Rover and never looked back...

do they still have Fiat internals?

I don't think I can import the 98 Lada it would have to be a 90 or older. I Think the Lada's of today have GM parts.

Lots in Costa Rica, I have buddies there who own them. You could ship back up, from Caldera to Long Beach CA. Or drive back Check CL down there.
