Hey there- I have a 2021 XV3 loaded with just about every option from Schutt plus additions/ upgrades:
- I replaced the Schutt battery management system with a RedArc Redvision system
-Added Anderson plugs for solar connectivity
-Added 12v outlets on outside of galley box for convenience at-camp.
-Heavy duty 20X60" slider in the bed (By Shuksan Vans) which held my ARB fridge plus cargo and saves your knees from climbing into the cargo area!
-Lightweight aluminum molle panels on the inside walls with additional cargo organization brackets and baskets.
-Hardwired ARB fridge connection from nose-box to rear cargo area, power switched by RedArc. Bullet-proof.
-T-channel rails mounted on fenders for gear tie down.
Some notes:
-I removed the water heater from the galley for a more 4-season functionality as the cheap propane heater Schutt supplies has thin tubes that easily crack in cold weather. The sink works well, just cold only and I never missed it once.
The Rhino rack is solid and an incredible piece of kit. The extrusions/grooves at the top are not strong enough to support a heavy 270 awning and one small section shows a bend in the top extrusion where stress was. Strength is not compromised, but about 4" stretch of groove would need to be reinforced. I was just going to plate over it. That said- the weakness occurred while cruising some washboard Baja roads. There is ample strength for a Rhino 270, but I was carrying an Ostrich Wing 270. (Also available if you are interested.- see below)
Other related gear available:
-Ostrich Wing Awning, like new. Was on this rig and is awesome. If I were to reconnect it to the trailer I would mount steel plates/gussets to the vertical rack supports to relieve stress on the Rhino rack. It is built like a tank, and heavy.
-Have a full set of Torklift steps that I was going to mount to the side to eliminate a ladder and make a more comfortable climb into the RTT. Never installed, new.
These trailers are ************. I traveled with it behind my 2-door Wrangler from NY to Baja and back, across highways and no-roads. The articulating hitch meant if the Jeep could go, the trailer could go. I would hitch this up today and go anywhere in the world.
I am outfitting a VW Bus now for a completely different style trip and would love to know this rig is on the road/trail somewhere.
