WTB: Toyota Hiace w/1kz or Similar!

Hi all,

I am on the search for a JDM 4wd or Awd van to replace my Transit connect camping setup. I am specifically looking for a Diesel example and am partial to both the Hiace and cold climate specific Delicas that offer the limited-slip rear differential. A diesel coolant heater would be a major plus but I am more than capable of installing one if there is not already one in the van. Low mileage and a well-tracked service history is my number one priority, I know that these vans are all 25+ years old so cosmetic issues come with the territory. I am looking to hopefully avoid a full baseline of the vehicle and to find something that has all belts, fluids, filters, etc. replaced. I have looked all around the country and have found some decent options from importers but wanted to see what else was out there before pulling the trigger. Thanks in advance and happy trails!

Cheers,
Cory

Hi, I dont know if you've met the guy but he's in San Fran and had 100+ imports from Japan. Never seen so many delicas. Dont know if they're at where you want them under the hood but he might be worth a shot. I also have the name of someone who can bring them in by request, even though I think you have that end covered.
If you want either. Lmk i will send #s
If I knew Jack about vehicles I would have a few of them :)

Hi there,
I will be advertising for sale very soon a 1989 Fully Re-upholstered Toyota Townace Poptop 4WD 2L Diesel with approx 40k miles on the clock which is in outstanding condition for the year.
I bought it from a mechanic with 40 yrs experience who did all the servicing/mechanics/upgrades extra himself.
Let me know if you are you interested to know more info/pics plus price etc and we can swap emails and go from there.
I live, along with the vehicle in England so it would obviously have to be shipped to you in the States. This is not a problem as I have previously earlier this year sold and shipped 2 Toyota Hliux Galaxy Motorhomes to the U.S. (you can probably look back through older posts on here to see the RV's in question)
Regards,
Lee

The rear limited slip diff is I think pretty rare.
You can identify it on Toyota's by checking the acle code in the VIN plate. It will be something like g244 or g255. Of it ends on a 3 or a 5, it is an lsd. And there might still be a sticker on the diff.

However since it is an 8 inch diff in the solid rear, and 7.5 inch in the front IFS, you can get whatever diff you want.

The Hiaces came in awd and 4x4. Where the 4x4 actually has a center locker and low range.

The 1kz is nice, but not error free. The 2L and 3L without turbo are noisier and slower, but more reliable.
