WW kayaking close to Los Angeles

For the next month or so Piru Creek will be flowing thanks to a annual late Summer release from Santa Felicia dam. The flow is 362cfs.

Rated Class II+ with a few class III's thrown in for fun.

It has a fairly continuous current between rapids which requires you to keep on your toes.

I would not consider this a beginner run even though it has a class II+ rating. Some experience in moving water and eddy hopping and boat scouting is desirable.

If anyone is interested let me know, I would be happy to go if I can arrange it.

Just taught the first weekend of a whitewater canoeing class on the fall release of the South Fork of the South Platte River just outside of Denver. Class II. Love those fall drawdowns of the reservoirs.

I would love to try, but I am booked solid right now.
Oh, and could you do it on a riverboard?

I dont think this would be the best riverboard run. Kind of shallow in spots. There is a 15 mile stretch upstream that flows in the Winter that is much harder and more riverboard friendly. Sespe Creek is one that I think would be a ideal multi day riverboard trip, if there is such thing as a multi day riverboard trip.
