I bought the wrong radio. I bought this Yaesu FT-897D thinking that I'd use it for mountaineering but it's way too heavy for that. It would, however, make a great radio for portable operations or a home station. It has 100W output on the HF frequencies, 50W on VHF, and 20W on UHF.

I have all of the original packing materials and documentation. The radio is in mint condition; the automatic tuner has a couple of very small scratches on one side (pictured). I would have returned it to HRO but it sat around my house in boxes for a few months before I got around to opening it and now it's non-returnable.

I have about $2000 in this radio and the accessories. I'm asking for $1650, shipped CONUS with insurance to you.

Here's what's included:

FT-897D HF/VHF/UHF transceiver
FC-30 automatic tuner
MH-59 DTMF mic
FP-30B removable internal AC power supply (can be swapped for batteries, which are not included)
YF-122C Collins 500Hz CW filter (still in box, not installed)
YF-122S Collins 2.3 kHz SSB filter (still in box, not installed)

If interested, PM me.

Yessir, it still is. I was planning to put it up on the 897 list tonight if it didn't sell to someone in the community first.

Looks like you're here in Colorado.

Also included: ADMS-4AU Advanced Data Management Software (box never opened or installed) and programming cable.

Pulling it off the market. Don't want to sell it at fire sale prices so I'm going to hang onto it.

evidently not, never answered my pm

Sorry guys, I looked through my PMs and didn't see anything from you all.

I finally got my new radio and I'm putting the FT-897D back up for sale. $1350 takes all, firm. Shipped CONUS to you.

PM me if interested; I'll be monitoring ExPo.

Since the radio is sold I'd like to ask what sort of mountaineering you were going to do and what you bought to replace the 897D?

I would suggest something like the tiny but highly rated Ellecraft KX3 with very low current drain in receive. Options to get: antenna tuner module, mike, internal battery charger
