Yaesu VX7-R hand held to external speakers

Hi,
I was wondering if there is a plug available for the VX7R to RCA to be able to plug AM/FM reception output to amplified speakers in a vehicle.

i looked at their website and did not see anything.

There is a somewhat complicated (non-standard) plug on the top of the VX-7R for a separate mic that also functions as an external speaker; if you could get the right plug and a pin-out of the port I'm sure you could attach an external speaker to there - but I don't know of any ready-made commercial application beyond the external mic/speaker mentioned.

The CT-91 will get you started. http://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-006181 You will still need an RCA to 3.5 adapter, or just cut your speaker wires and put in a 3.5 plug. You would also need another mike to plug into the 2.5 side. (A twin plug speaker mike will work, but you'll lose the (mike)speaker in this application.) And, mono only.

Another question is why? AM-FM reception from most any recent radio will outperform your HT.

thanks for the pointers and link, i may be getting the CT-91 as it looks like it will do what i want. too bad i can only get mono output and not stereo.
Edit:
I think i may have possibly answered my own question,
i was playing with my external mic (MH-57) and noticed a small rubber plug at the base of it. i removed the plug and there looks to be a jack plug in there so i hooked up a set of head phones and they work. so i should be able to use this to plug into the amplified vehicle speakers and actually have full use of the mic.

my daily driver truck is a bare bones open top ex military truck. i have an old amp and speakers that i mounted in there that are old enough that noone will steal and i just plug in my mp3 into it for music.

i thought it would be nice to add the option of am/fm without spending money on a stereo deck that will get stolen. my HT's reception is good enough for what i need, and with an external antenna plugged in the reception is not bad. figured that the option is there so why not use it. plus if its possible to use this mic i have i can listen to the receive on the vehicle speakers (the louder the better driving a topless diesel) and still transmit through the mic.

just looking to have this as an option.

I have a diamond antenna on my VX-6r and I think the reception range out performs my car for AM-FM. But the audio quality isn't as good.

neat project though. Please post pictures when you finish.

so it works great.
running a jack to RCA splitter out of the mic, into a very old JVC manual equalizer amplifier( 25w per side) and out to a pair of 3.5 inch speakers that are in an old jeep sound bar. the reception and sound so far is good. this is using the HT antenna, i have not tried the truck antenna to see if i get better reception and quality.

I still have not tried to transmit and receive, but am/fm reception and weather channel is nice and loud. and i hardly have to turn the yaesu volume up past the third click to have loud sound, i think the lower volume output out of the radio will save on battery life.

That is a neat idea, and I like the aux. inputs. Where are you going to put it, will you drill a hole in your dash, or?

They don't come with the stereo they are made by Autometer, JEGS. They come as just the clamp with an empty housing.

Thanks! Looks like they could be handy for mounting any number of things to the roll cage. For example, my stereo and radio speakers are currently clamped on with cheap worm-drive radiator hose clamps, but those would look nicer.
