Yokohama X-AT, moving on...

After about 20,000 miles we have already worn out a set of Yokohama X-AT's. We bought 265/75/r16 e-rated in May of 2021 when we had our FWC Fleet installed on our Tacoma per the recommendation of a local shop. On the dirt the tires are pretty good, a lot of traction, and they did pretty good in the few times we have been in mud. In the snow, not so much, especially since their nearing the end of their life. The sidewalls have been really tough, considering our heft, but the lugs have many instances of chipping.

I am really surprised they have worn out so quickly... Rather than make a warranty claim and get a new set of X-ATs, I think we're going to bite the bullet and move on to something else. Primarily we drive 50/50 road/dirt, mostly in the desert. We're heading to baja in a few weeks, so we want something tough.

I realize there is a ton of info on tires out there, its a little overwhelming, some first hand reviews/recommendations would be appreciated.

Sorry for another tire thread.

I am really happy with my Mastercraft Courser CXT (made by cooper) .I have over 30,000 miles and am at 1/2 tread life. I´ve done Baja 3 times, CABDR, Copper Canyon and the Continental divide trail and haven´t had a flat. I had BFG TA KO2 before these and they were good also but I like these more.

If durability is key, I've never seen a longer wearing tire than Toyo Open Country ATs.

I just changed a set of AT2's after over 55,000 miles with a little life left on them.

They are available in 265/75R16 LR E.

In my case, the current CTs are outlasting the previous AT2s. They're proving to be a durable tire, great wear on pavement and much reduced rock chipping on gravel with a heavily loaded, light truck. Only caution would be, I have read increased wear complaints in hot conditions - it is an all weather tire. So that might be a concern for the OP. However, the rubber compound uses more natural rubber rather than the more usual silica added for winter grip.

I had the Nitto equivalent for a month or so. They were too loud. I got some Toyo AT 111'.
Stout,beast of a tire though.

Ah, well, I have to say that those 55.000 miles were in very hot climates and in very bad roads when on pavement..

Did you have them in the snow? I had a set of CTs and loved them until winter hit. I found them to be useless on snowy roads even though they were winter rated. I sold them with 6k miles on them because of it.

I've been running the Falken Wildpeak at3w and couldn't be happier. They are wearing slow. They are great in the winter and fairly quite.

The Toyo RT is supposed to be really good.

Love the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT.
They are by far better than the Duratracs I had on my Power Wagon. They've been at minimum equal to the KO2s that I have run for years (I got the itch for a different brand of tires from the KO2sfor some reason when I replaced DTs).
My 17 Power Wagon is my DD and it's used for trips to Colorado. So I wanted something good in snow and rain - they are a 3 peak rate tire. I absolutely needed something with good road manners and I wanted something durable and off-road worthy - although I don't do "extreme" off-roading I wanted a tire I could trust out on the trail.
I've been more than happy with them. I loved the KO2s I've run on other vehicles. I didn't care for the Duratracs especially as they wore past 25k.
I decided to switch up brands and I feel I hit it out of the park with the MT Baja Boss AT
