Zodi Hot Camp mods

I have had a Hot Camp for several years and although I love the heat unit the battery pack and pump are not on my favorites list. So I have over the years performed some mods. First the plastic hose melts easily at the heat coil if you make the mistake of not having the water running all the time. I replaced the hose with rubber fuel hose and 90 degree connectors and quick release fittings. The plastic hose also crimps where it came off the heater when stored in the box.IMG_0731.jpgIMG_0732.jpg

Then I was went looking for a 12volt pump system. I have a battery in my trailer or the Jeep so I tossed the D Cell unit and bought a Primus pump and shower head. I cut hoses and fixed it to work with the quick connects and now it plugs into a 12v volt cig lighter or anderson power poles.IMG_0736.jpg

I have been using that setup for quite awhile but I wanted more pressure at the shower head so I found an 12v inline bilge pump from Rule il200p.IMG_0738.jpg
I installed a 1/2 to 3/8 reducer and Anderson Plugs.IMG_0740.jpg
Now here is the whole setup.IMG_0744.jpg

The new pump instantly self primes now and has some real pressure. The other pumps took awhile to prime and sometimes I had to help them. Its not set up as a complete self contained unit but a lithium motorcycle battery would work really good and is small and very lightweight. It would easily pack into the box.

Here is a US version on the Primus setup. Was not around when I got mine from Australia. The pump is better than the Zodi pump and it gives you an inline switch and shower head shut off. http://www.amazon.com/Portable-Powered-Water-Pump-Shower/dp/B00EN7N4XG/ref=sr_1_2?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1459868301&sr=1-2&keywords=12+volt+camp+shower
The Rule il200p for even better pressure. I still have the Primus pump as a back up. http://www.amazon.com/Rule-iL200P-Marine-Submersible-12-Volt/dp/B000O8CZWE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1459868592&sr=8-1&keywords=rule+il200p
The quick couplings..work for alot of applications http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=36297&catid=743 http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=36299&catid=743

Once setup. Have been trying to figure out a water system and I think you have solved my problem, thanks. What is the diameter of the Rule pump?

1/2 inch. I used a plastic 1/2 to 3/8 barb reducer. I usually carry a 5 gallon aquatainer around in my motorcycle trailer. I can drop the pump in the spout and hose off after a long hot ride. It looks kind of piecemeal with different hoses and wires but it works really good.
