H1 HUMMER is coming back

There's more questions than answers now. It would explain a few things happening behind the scenes [I've seen a few dormant hummer vendors become active again buying advertising, etc].

www.hummerguy.net has most of the details all on one site.

The latest word is Hall's want to buy and offer a Rod Hall Desert race package of the Humvee-C.

AM General will be at the upcoming National Hummer Club event in Durango and Moab next month, they're asking attendees to take part in focus group questions/testing of the humvee-c.

I originally wanted a humvee but was afraid of the possible registration nightmare and selling it in the future. Still would love the simplicity of one.

Most every state allows the registration of surplus miltary vehicles and some states like Florida allow vehicle to operated w/o tag in most cases as long as the vehicle has all its military markings.

don't get me wrong, I am all for having one (I say this while slowly stripping my h1 to be more bare-bones). I was spooked by several people I know who had issues registering humvees at dmv's, AMG's policy of dealerships not working on them as well as this letter that surfaced around the time I was looking:

sorry, but the 6.2 and 6.5 thats in the HMMWV's are dogs....

true, but 6.5 or 6.2 will enter mechanic shop once or twice in its life for injection pump change, but 6.7. 6.6.6.0 and the rest of the tiger diesels will let u on the road dead .

when u build a military truck speed is secondary . reliability and simplicity of the motor is more important. only Americans think that diesel must have 800 lb torque and 6 mpg, ppl cross continents with 2.0 diesel land rover , how many duramax or dodge or ford >>>> STRONG <<<< diesels do u know that did that? :) :)

I think thats AMG stopping HMMWV's at the Form 97 level, and covering their *** in liability.

I'm sure AMG won't be concerned about HUMVEE-C trucks. We'll know more next week during the THCI event in Colorado/Utah.

I plan to ask AM General next week if they plan to bring the next gen HMMWV / BRVO engine to the public market, the 3.2L Turbodiesel 3200 Optimizer.

500 lbs, 300 hp/500 ft lb of torque, monoblock inline 6. It's a drop in replacement on the HMMWV and is the standard engine on the BRVO truck.
