I'm sorry to apply our policy regarding vendor promotions to 88XJ. He seems to be a good guy, and he's trying to follow the rules. It's a shame that our business manager has not contacted him in a timely manner. I have no explanation for the delay.
We're happy for vendors to participate in forums, answering questions and sharing information. What we prohibit is soliciting sales. That's reserved for forum sponsors, the people who pay an annual fee to help with the expenses of running the ExPo forums.
It's OK for a vendor who is not a sponsor to have a simple link to a web site in their signature file. Simple link means no text promotions, just a link.
If a vendor has information about some new product, they can post it in the News and Announcements section. This is subject to heavy editing by the moderators if the item reads more like a promotion than a news release. "News" does not include new lower pricing.
And its fine for forum participants to post information about new products. If it appears that the participant has a financial interest in the product, he or she will be invited to participate in the ExPo sponsors program. Repeated posts to promote something will draw further attention from the moderators.
If you want to talk about forum rules, start a thread in the Fireside Chat forum, or send me or another moderator a PM. Thanks.
