Here are some photos of the ongoing work.Lots of rust to clean up on the axle from a failed axle tube seal. Needs to be checked more! That brown pach is rust that still need to be cleaned off. Used a flap wheel on a die grinder.

Keep looking at tires and may just stay with a 285/75R/16". Has a max weight of 3750 Lbs. With my big as$ sliding at 1800+ lbs. I may just need to give up on "a look"? Will still need to go to a wider rim,but that will net me 1" wider foot print and 1/2" more clearance from the ground with this tire. Wheels would be 16" x 8 1/2" MB's.

Maybe I am just kidding my self about this being a "Expedition" truck ?

Can't help thinking about the 305/70R/16"????

All installed!:sombrero: Do any of you , out their need to see the steps to do this repair? I could photo the other side? In the photo you will see a sleeve for the bottom joint. The HF kit needs some other parts. Can be made out of pipe. But it is like a tool box,it always needs more tools!:wings:

Some where on this forum you will find a Mercedes Station Wagon that has traveled ALL OVER the world. Its 2 wheel drive and is every bit of an Expedition Rig as any other vehicle I have seen used. Just because your Ford isnt widely used as an Expedition Rig does not make it NOT an Expedition capable vehicle. Build what you have and enjoy the Outback. My next build will be a Suburban which I bet will be longer than your Ford. Nice build. Keep it up.

As long as you're thinking of going bigger... lift that baby 4" and put 35s under her. My F250 wheels great, and I'm adding lockers this summer.

Well, after figting with new Ford parts, seals that dont fit. Is installed. Found out that the front hub for my 6/1998 build,1999 is NLA from ford. So Ford sent over a replacment that has a ABS sender? Well it is just a little different. Needed to add a AN washer between the brake caliper and the caliper adaptor to get the adaptor from rubbing on the hub. The new hub is ,the mounting flange is about .130" thicker. What a pain! The seals need special tools. I don't know about a home guy doing this?? I will try to do a better job on photos on the other side for you guys that want to see.

Well, the refund is in the works for a Superlift Kit that is out of production ! You think!
New springs coming from General Spring KC. They are 43-818HD leaf spring . 3950 Lbs. also. That should keep it UP with the new bumper! LOL
