WoW! I like the black wheels! I always wondered what mine would look like with black wheels (mine is beige also.):wings::victory:

Ok guys, here is another stupid question. When it comes to reading the back spacing I get confused. Comming from BMW land, we read it as ET (german intials for " distance from center"...or something like that. So the wheels om my e38 are 19x9.5 with et19...that means the wheels are 19mm out from midline. an e34 would habe +46mm meaning the hub is a lot closer to the outside of the wheel and flat looking, where as the et 19 the wheel has a deeper lip.

So if you have a 16x8 wheel and 4" back spacing the hub is at the mid line, duh.
If you go to a 3.5" bs, does the wheel move out, away from mid line, or the the wheel move closer to the car?:coffee:

3.5" from the inside lip. (thus the wheel moves out, away from the car)
Hopefully this pic helps explain:

hey guys, i know this thread is very old but i found the convo during a search and was hoping it could be resurrected for a quick question.
im new to the Montero game (off roading in general) and bought a '99 over the weekend. it came with 20x9 ******** cepek's installed with 33x12.50x20 nitto muddies, unknown offset/backspacing on the wheels. this look is not for me at all and i have the opportunity to purchase some wheels off of a buddy and was wondering if they would work.

they are 15x10 pro comp steelies with a 3 5/8 (3.625) backspacing and i was hoping to still run 33" tires. I noticed that the previous owner had cut the front bumper for clearance but i wanted to make sure before going through buying the wheels and having tires mounted.

also, if they would fit without rubbing would they look "right"? would the usual 33x12.50x15 tire be good on these wheels?

im thinking that a wheel that size with that backspacing might stick out a little to far. but, i'd have to say, fitment is my main concern. it would be temporary in a sense....i just gotta get off these 20's asap lol

any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Stick with a 15x8 with 33x10.50 tires. As for the 20's, they are the same 6 lug pattern as Toyota and Chevy, so you should sell them pretty easily.

Sell the 15x10's and those 20's. They're both pretty pricey new these days (even the 15x10 steelies) so you should get a decent sum for them assuming they're in good condition. Then go buy yourself a set of 15x8's or if you're running 33x10's, just find someone upgrading their stock Mitsu 15x7 rims and use them instead.

10" wide rims are probably too wide for 10" wide tires (check with the tire manufacturer for their rim recommendations).

If you are wanting 33's, there are a lot more options in a 16" wheel instead of the 15's. I'm running 33x10.5x15 BFG KM2's and I really like them, but would have had Goodyear Duratracks if I had found a good deal in a set of 16" rims. Going with the 12.5" width, you do have more options with a 15" rim, but I really prefer the 10.5's on this rig.

Metric tires are definitely more expensive in comparison.

For example...
Goodyear wrangler Duratrak (33X10.50R15C1 114Q W) = $215/tire
Goodyear wrangler Duratrak (LT315/75R16E2 127Q B) = $251/tire

Thats a lot of extra $$ especially when you buy 4-5 tires.

Holy crap! I searched several times, and never saw a listing for 10.5x15 Duratrac's. Clearly, my Google-**** is lacking.
