Pelican/Action Packers or any cases on Gobi Rack

Hello All,
My gobi rack will be coming soon and I just wanted to be on the lookout for cases out there. I might pick up one or two if there are good deals out there.

1. What do you run on top. If pelican/Storm/Hardigg.. what is the model no?
2. How do you secure it.
3. Do you lock it to the frame?

Thanks!

Me personally, I would bolt it to the rack. There are a lot of threads about motorcyclists bolting Pelican cases to the sides of their "expedition" bikes. Just drill through the case, throw a stainless steel bolt through the hole, and silicone around them.

There is a large lot of large 2750 storm cases in the FS section now. Thats what i would do if i was putting a box on the roof. Water and stick poke proof.

Good that you mention that.. which is the reason for this topic. Just saw it today morning in the FS section, but wanted to be sure of a certain things.

Pelican is the way to go. they are bullet proof and thier customer service is better than anything ive experienced. They stand behind their product 100%, I broke a latch, I bought the case used, and after a couple emails with their service they mailed me 2 at no cost.

I run multiple Pelicans on top of my Gobi depending on needs. I strap them down and then secure them with typical master lock cable routed to/through the pad locks on each case

I use the 1560 and a couple of the rifle cases ( don't remember their number)

Quite happy with my setup

I use storm cases which are great, but they are very heavy when full. Not sure the roof is the best place for something so heavy.

There is this thing called the Internet where you can lookup the answers to your questions.

Oh hi mep, thanks for the reply however I feel it would be nice to see some members rigs here that one could communicate with here on expo rather than random pics in google.
Its nice to see the gear and how its set up and possibly fire a question or two at the owner.

Just dont get too big of a case. I picked up a pair of 1780's and thought it was a great idea, i could stuff all my crap in there and throw it on the rack and be done. Yeah, they weigh a ton when full and make it a chore to get up on the rack. I would pop the top off and unload them halfway when we got to our destination and then pull them down. Nice in theory, but in practice it would be better suited to a truck bed than a roof rack. I just secured them with a ratchet strap and put a cable lock through the handles.

I used North Face duffels on my Gobi, they worked well for most things (clothes, odds and ins, snow shoes). Just not super breakable items. Kitchen items were stored in the Kanz chuck box.
