Ikarus' Lightweight Access Cab Build

Awesome build! I'm liking the simple, clean approach to it! Did you notice a big difference after switching to the 255s? I was thinking about running the same combo of wheel and tire size but have to wait on the regear for now. BTW, that E30 video is awesome! As a former E30 owner I can appreciate a good Bimmer video!

Thanks! I noticed a big difference going from the stock steel wheels + stock tires to stock steel wheels + ST Maxx 235/85r16s. Heavier and slower - but not too bad. Going from that to these SCS wheels + 255s, it's almost the same. Definitely not the fastest thing ever. I can still get around town and on the freeway just fine though. I'm happy with it.

e30s are rad. I thought about buying one, but I decided to spend the money on motorcycles and truck parts instead. ha

Got the compressor mounted, but still need to get the wiring figured out. Looks like a regear and armor will be coming in a few weeks once work slows down - 4.88s for now. Anyone have experience with 4.88s and a 2.7?

Took the Tacoma out for a late night drive with some PVS14s. Moon was a waxing gibbous, so if you've ever used NVG, you know those are some solid conditions. Saw an owl, tons of deer, and a moose - turns out they get surprised when you roll up on them with no headlights haha

Definitely. The shop in Salt Lake? I've called and asked for quotes three separate times now and they never get back to me. I guess I need to go in.

Correct. Call the shop on 300 west and about 1400s in Salt Lake, ask for Eric- he can tell you over the phone. I just pulled my own diffs, supplied the gears and install kits, and paid $200 for the front and $300 for the rear which including re-installing my ARB locker.

Not bad. Thanks man!

Got a new addition this weekend -

- a Wilco Offroad Tiregate VT. Super stoked on it. Feels very solid and I'm glad to finally have my spare out from underneath. I have another Cooper ST Maxx and an SCS F5 wheel on the way for next week.

Did some flying and generally checkin out the fall colors with DefconBrix

I've got a ton to get done this next week. I got my compressor mounted and wired up, but I need to install my rear ARB locker and 4.88 gears, plus find some time to add some OME spacers to my front coils to get rid of my rake and get my full size spare put together. Too busy to work, I need to just stay home and work on my truck. haha

Are you like a future version of me?

Currently living in Phoenix, but been thinking about moving to Utah or Cali. Currently driving an FR-S, but want to sell it to get a Taco (want to explore more -- only so much gear fits in the FR-S, and you can only explore so many roads). Looking at getting a base model, access cab, 4x4. But I want the V6 and manual transmission. REALLY want the TRD (I got the opportunity to drive the exact setup I want, on an offroad course... it was heaven). Not sure if I'm willing to settle for less, though. ATRAK is pretty damn nice.

Definitely going to keep an eye on this build... now, back to lurking.

I have liked that tire gate since seeing it on a project Tundra for a Toyota magazine. Glad it's solid and works well for ya.

Could you put up some more pictures of how it mounts and such. I am very interested.

Truck looks great as usual.

When you say flying, What are you flying and filming with?
