Mt Blanca Labor Day Weekend?

Sadly it seems we may no longer have active NM or CO Mitsu owners like we once did, but I thought I would see if anyone is up for a Holiday weekend trip up Mt Blanca. One of the most scenic trails in Colorado, and the most difficult. One of those trails better driven with someone who has been before. My thought would be meet by 12:00PM on Saturday, drive up to camp. Then Sunday drive to the upper lake and hike. Monday drive down and home.....

Rock Sliders, 33s, rear traction aid, and a solid cooling system will enable you to become well stuck but maybe live to tell about it. Better equipment might get you over some of the obstacles.(Jaws 1-4)

Blanca was literally the roughest road I've ever driven. Not particularly hard other than jaws 2(?). Make sure to keep going past the lake at the top. Mind ou I was in a discovery on 35's and 3 linked. But NFS had a couple tacomas at the top with winches and 33's. Not particularly over built.

If I was close I would be in for sure. Amazing trail.

All the Jaws are Hard...But your right the lead up at the bottom especially is incredibly rough. Top of The World near Moab was the worst I have ever driven though.

You thought Top of the World was harder than Blanca? We had a blast 2 years ago at Top of the World and plan to go in October, but part of the reason I'm selling the Jeep is because it made things "too easy".

Ok, a date with the sharks it is. Been awhile for me. Let me know if any tweaks are needed. Its only 3hrs or 3.5hrs to the trail head for us. We might go up Friday night and camp at base camp...anyhow we are flexible. But if we just have breakfast Sunday morning and head down you guys can get home at a reasonable hour.

I am anticipating everyone's rigs are going to rock the Sierras this year!

Wow, alright! After the Carnage we can make some more detailed plans. I do want to talk about safety on this trail a bit, as it can be dangerous. Everyone just needs to be happy taking a winch if you have any struggles on any of the major obstacles. Not to mention the worlds most insane weather outside of Mt Washington.

Hey guys,
Just thought I would let you know, we were on Blanca about 2 weeks ago and the trail was closed to vehicles past the lake. I ran this trail about 20 yrs ago and the climb past the lake was the toughest one. Wanted to do it again but no go this time. Have fun this is an awesome trail and the lake has to be the favorite place I have been to.
