Help Finding F-150 HDPP

Semi considering changing my set up for a bit more payload due to a cargo conversion camper dropping into my lap and a preference for not taking my ovrlnd camper on and off...

One of the vehicles that would be on my potential short list is a F150 with the HDPP but it's pretty impossible to locate a used one; so, I figured I would turn to folks here that like browsing as much as I do ha.
-6.5 bed required
-rear locker required
-3.5 or 5.0 is fine
-Prefer the 10 speed auto
-Prefer powered seat
-Not black
Edit: Apparently this doesn't exist haha: Prefer extended cab but crew might be ok
-Max Tow package
-Under 50k miles
-4wd
-Near central OR would be sweet...

I'm gonna tell you, the time and effort you'll put into finding one you could have found a F250 with a 6.5 bed and be about even. Plenty of posts on the F150 forums with guys looking for HDPP trucks on the used market and either bought new or moved up truck size. Although I've never seen someone with the package not be happy about it.

The 7 bolt pattern basically means you're stuck with factory wheels.

When I worked at a dealership I saw two come through and both were bare bones fleet type deals, but they offered on almost all trim levels up to like 2018ish, now it's just on XL maybe XLT too. Before you could order it on a Lariat.

Best of luck!

For sure and I could see going F250 extended cab with the 7.3. F150 gets me a little better mileage and a little more comfort with a relatively inexpensive suspension lift.

Better turning radius is handy while out hunting/camping etc. around the west and the height is a bit better too. F250 would also tempt me to sell my current camper, build a flatbed, and order an ATC flatbed or another ovrlnd which is going to cost me a pretty penny.

Used the 150 seem a bit cheaper too especially for xlt.

A F150 and F250 with SCAB and 6.5 bed will be the same length if I'm not mistaken, so turning radius should be the same. Once loaded down the F250 may have better mileage tbh, but unloaded it's gonna feel like... well like an unloaded 1 ton truck.

But you're right, the lift kit price will probably be more expensive on the bigger truck. But then you get the advantages of solid axles front and rear.

I think the flat bed option is a really tempting option but for me and maybe for you, keeping a more traditional bed makes more sense if you're not building it as a camping only truck. Like I still need my bed to move mulch and 2x4s and fishing poles. As much as I want to get a camper in a future truck I still want to have basic truck stuff.

Supercab short bed F250 is a few inches longer than the supercab short bed F150. F250 sorry bed is 6.75'. Turning radius is noticably larger but it's better than the 157" wheelbase required to get a HDPP F150. HDPP is only available in a supercab with the 8' bed or crew cab 6.5 bed.

Good catch. I forget it's 6.5 vs 6.75 ft.

It wasn't always that way. For a time it was possible to get an extended cab 6.5 bed f150 with the hdpp.

For quite a while now I think 13 and 14th Gen HDPP extended cabs are only available with the 8' box.
Out of curiosity what payload are you hoping to be around?
Most of the crew cab 4x4 HDPP stickers I've seen are around the 2,200 lbs mark. These are for trucks with a couple options...
See link below for an idea of what you can expect with trucks equipped in various configurations.

I think since '15 HDPP are 6 bolt. I was very close to pulling the trigger on ordering one instead of the truck I ended up ordering. If HDPP was available with the 302a package, I would have ordered it.

I thought you wanted something newer. Was '07 the last year they offered it? That far back search based on 8200lbs GVWR and look for trucks with 7 lugs.

I know they offered in 2021. GVWR was 7850 I believe. I know because I looked at a new super cab 3.5 max tow hdpp 6.5 bed before buying my Titan but the prices were at the peak and the dealer was annoying so I went with the Titan.

Somewhere around 1900-2200 would be great for me. Found a 2021 Titan XD Pro4x with a 2000lb actual payload and a good price but checking out other options too.

If you're good with an extended cab and don't need all the froo froo options, aN F150 XLT extended cab 6.5" box with the 300a or 301a option should get you in that range. I was at 1,850lb payload on this truck:

301a and sport pkg, 5.0L and FX4. So still had buckets, console and power driver seat. Ext cab vs crew cab will net you more payload.

Interesting. I didn't realize the payload was that high on the non HDPP. Any difference in weight between the 3.5 and the 5.0?

Not sure on weight. If I had to guess 5.0L may be lighter? But that's a guess....

Have a look through these payload / build sheet pictures. It's handy because a lot of people also posted their window stickers.
So it'll give you an idea what kind of payload to expect with trucks optioned a certain way. Start on pg 10 and work back.

You should have bought that truck. According to the Ford that doesn't exist. I looked into ordering a supercab F-150 and you couldn't get it with a GVWR higher than 7050lbs in 2020. That's why I ended up with a F250.
