Food blocker? Like one of those rubber doughnuts they stick in the stomachs of obese people to shrink their intake?

A food blocker would be handy. My kids spill all kinds of french fries, crackers, fruit snacks and candy in the back seat.

Is this something only available for CA model Cruisers?

.

Yeah, in the 80s Japanese engineers never imagined that people would eat in their cars. (they were all too busy smoking in them) The food would fall into the seatbelt retractors and then they wouldn't retract. The fix was to add a plastic scraper to the retractor to reject the Oreos but allow the seatbelt.

3B is a great idea. If you pull the head and polish the precups (as in port and polish) they all of a sudden breathe really well and you can crank the bejesus out of them for excellent power. Lowenbrau can testify, there was even once a BJ60 on unimog portals and 53" military tires.. Powered by a wimpy little 3B...

I am a big fan of the 3B and have become an even bigger fan of the 13BT. Both are remarkably reliable but the Mexican Napas aren't going to have much support for them. Toyota didn't bring vehicles to Mexico for some odd reason. 6BTs on the other hand are pretty much everywhere and the 12 Valve versions are legendary in their reliability as well.

As far as that huge BJ60 goes, I never felt it needed any more power when I drove it. Steering... yes, brakes...yes but the power was just fine.

My old HJ60 lives down on the Yucatan for about the last 6 years, seems to be doing well (still get emails from the owner once in a while). My theory is only way your be seriously F'd would be if something major went out. Injector parts are common (and injectors hardly "fail"). I would bring a spare alternator (and wear parts of course, air/oil/fuel filters) and call it quits, personally. The 4BT will be easier though and the parts interchange with so much (common GM alt, 6BT/4BT parts match, etc) ... Once I had the 2H in the states I learned the "limited parts supply" factor was overrated, as it's a diesel...

Another option...

I'm seriously looking into a '60 with an Isuzu 4bd1t. Just a thought. And dieselcruiserhead has some experience...

That sounds SWEET. Isuzu makes a great diesel motor adn I've been seeing more and more of these particular motors being swaped into all kinds of trucks. I guess it goes without saying: kepp us informed and when/if you get'r... PICS!!! HAHAHA

My friend Bill may consider selling his FJ62 with the 4BD-1T with the 2T turbo (really screams). Pretty good conversion using a later version of the 700R4 called the 4L60 (notice there is no "e"). I'd be happy to forward it along... He'd want a pretty penny for it as it's clean and is on Old Man Emu. I'd call it about a 8 or 9 out of 10 on the cleanliness conversion factor... Also, everything on it is rebuilt...

Hey Guys,

I appreciate all of the suggestions. Right now I am not in any position to buy anything (building a house). So right now I am only daydreaming.

I just wanted to get an idea of what everyone thought about these options.

Thanks again.
