The Indian Restaurant we talked about in London is:

The Indian Club
Second floor, Strand Continental Hotel143 Strand, London, WC2R 1JA
020 7836 0650

There is a review of it here http://trustedplaces.com/review/uk/london/restaurant/1o5297p/india-club

I love this review
"
This Indian restaurant has been a favourite of mine for some time. My first visit was with the work crew for a boozy Friday lunch, we were lead by a work colleague who has been frequenting this place for 30 years. In fact I believe this is one of London's oldest Indian restaurants. It was originally built to service the staff at the Indian High Commission which is still located just around the corner.

I must admit that on my first visit I wasn't that impressed. The food is much more traditional than your typical British high street curry house, and I guess I was expecting the typical Chicken Korma type menu. But it did grow on me quickly, so if you're a seasoned curry monster and would like to try something different then do give this place a visit.

It appears as thought the restaurant is still in its original condition from when it first opened, and this really adds to its charm. The cutlery is kept in a wicker basket in the corner, tables are wobbly and formica topped and old paintings hang on the wall. The restaurant isn't licensed so you need to visit the bar downstairs for your beers. But the food is wonderful!! You'll be offered the set menu - which is great – but do try and order a few dishes from the menu. We always get the chilli barges – whole green chilli's deep fried in batter – and manage to consume 4 or 5 each.

The prices are cheap and the staff friendly.

It can be hard to find. It is on the 2nd floor of 143 The Strand. My last visit, weekday lunch, all tables were taken by half twelve. But I have noticed in the evenings can be quiet and sometimes closes around 23:00 if not busy. Do call ahead 020 7836 0650."

London has been a wonderful city to visit. It also helps to be traveling with a bunch of Brits! They know all the great spots, including some places you could never imagine seeing.

A small planning session for the VDE session. There was probably 30-40 people total in the vehicle segment.

Here is more information on the Royal Geographical Society

Some things you may not know about the RGS:

Our much-loved Vehicle-Dependent Expedition Guide was co-commissioned by the RGS.

Gentleman like Duncan Barbour (Camel Trophy), Chris Scott and Tom Sheppard are fellows of the RGS.

The RGS is the only organization of its type that supports, educates and publishes vehicle-dependent expedition programs.

The RGS and Land Rover has a £10,000 bursary which supported the 50-Degrees North Latitude Expedition (and others). The team drove around the globe in a 110 Defender.

Pretty cool!

I really loved the history of the place when I visited this summer.
Hopefully Disabled Explorers will be there next year as there was no way to swing it this year with all the money spent on the Sportsmobile. Glad to see your pics from the event and looking forward to more indepth thoughts on it.

Keep the reports coming.

This mat black is a wrap over gloss black. I liked it (obviously, not for a vehicle used in the dirt).

I will be there in about 10 days. I can't wait to discover this city.

Looks like the weather is very similar to Istambul right now...

Sorry I will miss you.

London has been a wonderful city, much like New York. Most outdoor enthusiasts avoid the city, but the anthropological attraction is too strong for me. It is humanity concentrated and charged. I would not want to spend years there, but months would be very enjoyable. Maybe three months each in London, Paris, NY and Tokyo.
