I really like what you are doing and thanks for taking the time to show us. This is my 93 2500.

Nice truck... I like the black/white contrast and the wheels look cool. I'm on the hunt for the stock fender flares like you have on yours.

Do you have any info on your roof rack... specifically how it's mounted to the truck? Thx!

Thanks OLC, I took these today for you, hopefully it helps. I used the stock rack holes to mount the wilderness rack. It is held in place with three bolts per side. This rack was free to me off of a Ford Expedition so it doesnt really line up with the Suburban holes. My understanding is that I could order the correct brackets for the Suburban. Since it is holding very strong; I doubt I will order them.

I sprayed the lower portion of the truck and grill with bed liner. Seems to hold up really well.

The 6.5T thing didn't pan out... didn't really want to do a swap anyhow. Need more time for some camping instead of swapping!!

I used to tow a bunch with a 1/2 ton Chevy of that gen. The best thing you can do for your brakes is swap to Hawk Superduty pads....Reybestos made a great pad to but I can't remember exactly which one-I just know it wasn't something you could just go buy at the parts store.

This will be better than any rotor, caliper, or brake line change. I felt it was absolutely required with the towing I was doing. Parts store pads-no matter how expensive, just don't come close.

I would put a transmission temperature gauge on it too, just to help keep an eye on things. FWIW though, I NEVER had a problem with the 4L60E. Towing about 6K plus, including in towns etc.

One other thing. Look up BlackBear tune. If they are still open I would talk to them. The handheld tuners are garbage and these guys get lots of good reviews. That is with the Vortec trucks. Not sure if they have experience with the TBI trucks, (and not sure which one you have, I would have to go back and re-read to double check)

he has a tbi i think, the burb looks like it has an early 90's frontend. for tbi tuning cfmtech has some good ideas, there is a company that sells the cord and program to laptop tune a tbi.

Awesome burb! Looks like a long version of my tahoe...

I have always like the suburbans, much more room then my current setup. I have 3 years on the bedliner on mine and not a single regret.

Cool, I'll check it out...

Yeah, the brakes are bugging me a bit, I'll give those pads a try and see what happens!

Anyone ever put an Edelbrock Intake on their 5.7L TBI Chevy before? I hear awesome things about it, but want first hand info.

Thx!

Save the $250+ and just buy a cheap $40 throttle body spacer.

On my 90 TBI 5.7 I ran a spacer for a while and made the mistake of buying the Edelbrock Performer TBI unit. Needless to say I was mildly pissed when I recieved the intake and noticed that it was exactly the same height as my stock GM aluminum intake with a TB spacer. The power was Exactly the same.

Good to know... thx for the info. I have done light research, so far haven't found any t-body spacers. What brands are you familiar with?

Ebay has a bunch......the one I had was a "swirl" type which basically just made a whistling sound through the intake. Just get one that has the two holes and not the oval shape. Don't pay more than $50 for one either since you're basically paying for the same thing with a different company name on it. Usually the difference is some anodized color and a gimmick "swirl cut" in the bores or some other design.
