Running 285s on an Excursion, balanced with beads. Have about 10k miles on them and no flat spots. Pretty impressed with how quiet they are compared to a Duratrac.

Running a similar setup on an F350, 315/75r16 Duratrac on 10" wheels. Running no lift and moved the front axle forward 1" with offset zero rate springs, works great.

Try a different CPS, a lot of cold start blue comes from the CPS. Every 7.3 I have owned puff some blue when cold. A bad CPS will make for a TON of blue smoke. Nothing bad about it, pretty normal for a 7.3.

Diesel will get twice the mileage as a 460 gas. I vote truck camper with a 7.3idi or powerstroke. Easy to remove a truck camper to go drive around or go on supply runs. A diesel will get 15-17mpg loaded and 20mpg empty. A 460 will get 8-10mpg loaded and 12mpg unloaded.

Kill 2 birds with one stone. Radius arm swap and get rid of the Dana 50 for a 60 with radius arms. Usually can be found pretty cheap and are ultra strong. The Dana 50 isnt bad though it can take a licking.

Although the readout of the SCT is nice the tunes are notorious for being hard on the transmission, spiking line pressure. Had an SCT on a 2000 Excursion and had to remove it due to poor shift quality. It has been covered over and over but a 6 position tuner is FAR nicer to your transmission...
