    Poyiso + Cold weather

Interesting...I haven't reached the point of researching heating systems yet, what does the D2 run on? 12V control, heating fuel from the gas tank? Big gas tank in the van, so that could be a good option. Are there any cold weather ventilation solutions out there? Rust is my biggest fear...

    Poyiso + Cold weather

I'd like it to be as comfortable as possible so 70 would be nice. My van is one of those ones with windows all down one side and the back, cargo panels on the other. The plan is to build some kind of reflectix wrapped insulation cushion for each window to seal that stuff up, won't be perfect...

    Poyiso + Cold weather

Lots of searching and all I can find is comments pointing out that polyiso loses R-value in cold weather. But at the same time, it's a really good moderate weather insulator, and easy to install. I'd like to be able to camp for ski trips (say -25C/-13F at night with risk of colder) with a...

Help me build my solar system!

Ahh crap, I threw it in my amazon order anyway because for $13 why not. End of the day, do these meters really add value on a basic isolator setup like I'm looking at? I've basically sourced everything I need to match the first option on that DIY link posted above.

Help me build my solar system!

Thanks for the link, very helpful...all 66 pages haha Pardon my many many basic questions, just one more (for now...) If I buy a cheap dual volt/ammeter just for a basic monitoring of the aux battery, how do I wire it up? All the diagrams have it wired in-line with the battery cable, so I'd...

Help me build my solar system!

*Bump* with a bit of a side bar I think I figured out what I need for solar but for the price I'm not ready to make that purchase just yet and with just a couple weeks until I plan on hitting the road I'm looking at setting up my battery bank and just using an isolator to charge them off my...

Help me build my solar system!

Hmm interesting, I haven't seen those in any of the reading I've done. I just assumed the controller would handle that stuff, weird that Renogy wouldn't have something on their site for that. And is a shunt just a means to connect more things to a battery post? To answer the previous...

DIY Insulation - What's the standard these days?

The more I read the more I think I'll skip the spray foam and just run my full insulation spread over all of the ribs, maybe stuff some pink insulation where I can. Not convinced that the ribs would make a big enough difference to be worth it, especially if I do a good job with everything else...

DIY Insulation - What's the standard these days?

Nice thanks, a roof vent is definitely on the list, and I'm thinking about some of those marine deck plate things in the floor to provide the 2nd vent (no more open windows). One more question has come up regarding thermal bridging though. I need to run a few channels into the van (solar power...

DIY Insulation - What's the standard these days?

With the new van I'm trying to figure out what to do for insulation, and there's tons of different setups over the years, and a whole lot of warnings about moisture. What's are people using these days? My most likely max temperature range would be -25C to +35C, or say -15 to 90F. It's an '03...

'03 Dodge Ram Van 3500 fitment question

Yeah I'm realizing that more and more... Luckily besides the stereo, seat covers and floor mats my mods will all be custom build anyway (insulation, solar, etc). And universal seat covers are fine so all that's left (after the lloyds mats below) is the stereo which is by no means a deal...

Help me build my solar system!

Nice thanks! I probably shouldn't have erased that original post now. Didn't see any replies when I made the edit, but I'm slowly getting it figured out... Are those no-name/chinese MPPT controllers all over amazon pretty decent? I've read endless amounts on building a system today so...

Help me build my solar system!

Edit: Did a whole bunch of homework this afternoon and think I'll just go through Renogy's website for a package deal. That said, still a few questions: - I'm looking at a 400W system for 2000Wh demands, and (2) 12V 155Ah AGM batteries wired in parallel for a 12V system. Do I need to ground...

'03 Dodge Ram Van 3500 fitment question

So I sold the Xterra and replaced it with an '03 ram van and now having a bit of a time finding model specific parts. Turns out "Ram Van" doesn't turn up on many of those vehicle fitment charts, and any googling just returns a bunch of truck options. So my question is... Does anybody know if...

    E350 Gray Vhale Build Thread

Nice build! Is there any reason you doubled up on the reflectix? Seems like most builds just do an outer layer of reflectix then some fiberglass insulation or similar, then wall panels on top of that. I'm sorting out plans for my own insulation and being in Calgary I'd like to have the option...
