    ***SOLD*** 1994 Diesel 4Runner - Austin, TX

Power issues resolved! Now makes more power than with the electronic pump, at the same boost level. Just a little smoke.. I don't think I EVER saw any with the E pump. It appears these things are breathing restricted.. and my snorkel probably doesn't help things at all. If I turn fuel up any...

    ***SOLD*** 1994 Diesel 4Runner - Austin, TX

So far I've figured out the timing part of the equation.. just need to add fuel to match what the electronic pump was delivering. That's slated for this weekend.. now that the truck is officially for sale, and some of my other commitments have lightened up so that I have time to mess with it...

VEHICLE SOLD EDIT: Stand to miss out on a motorcycle I really want, price change: $9,500 EDIT#2: Been daily driving it since tuning the pump for some mileage figures: 21mpg city/mixed, 26mpg @ 70mph on the freeway. 1994 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4WD Diesel ~179k on chassis, ~100k on engine, ~85k on...

    Rustoleum Hammered Spray Paint

POR-15 is amazing stuff but quite pricey, and worst of all.. It is tougher than the can it comes in. It's so tough that once you open the can, use it, and reseal it.. you stand a good chance of destroying the lid/can getting it back off again. So far I've had to throw away a couple of...

    Diesel Hiluxes

My 1KZ is certainly no monster on power, but on low end (read: off-idle) torque, it can't be stopped. It is a BRILLIANT engine for slow offroading.. very low idle, big flywheel, lots of grunt.. and all with ~24mpg if I drive it right.. which I rarely do. The mileage would be even better but...

    Western Mountaineering Sleeping Bag NIB

I have no affiliation with the seller: Some of you guys may not have heard of WM Bags before, but having sold them for years in a specialty outdoor gear shop, I can say that they are some of the nicest bags on the market. Bump for a great deal!

Show us your Toyota 4runner, tacoma or truck.

I've spent a couple years now getting this 4runner to its current "baseline". That is, I wanted a TurboDiesel 4runner to build into an expedition vehicle. I've owned a few TDI VWs, and knowing how great the diesel Toyotas sold in the rest of the world are, I decided to make one. So, I bought...

    Snorkel Questions

I think you'd be surprised how little vacuum there is on the "dirty" side of the filter in an airbox. Plus, this area will most likely be cleaner, with respect to airborne particulates, than the factory breather locations anyway, especially with a snorkel. I'd just be sure you run the fittings...

I don't see an argument. It appears that you agreed with him in needing a backing plate behind the body panel.

    New, non-$$$ Scepter MFC source

I've been dealing with trying to find fuel cans lately and now that I've come up with a solution I figured I'd let you guys in on something I ran across. This site: http://stock-number.com/06MilitaryFuelCans.htm is a military surplus business out of Louisiana. On the phone earlier today, they...

    Boat gas tank on roof?

My concern is that a mere 30lb of dynamic weight up top just may be comparable to 100lb (or more?) of static weight, in terms of the forces your rack will see when driving. A simple comparison would be the 200lb weight that will exert thousands of "pounds" of force on the rope that has to catch...

    Boat gas tank on roof?

Multiple cans on the roof is only a comparison here when the vehicle is not moving. Without any form of baffle inside that thing, if it is anything but full, empty, or very close to empty, you will have weight shifting around in probably the very worst place you'd want it. Any quick stops...
