You still can run into problems turning with an autolocker on the front. With manual hubs you can always unlock one side to make turns if it wants to stay locked, but that can be a bit of a pain hopping in and out constantly. An ARB would be the perfect compromise being selectable, but a lot...
Very cool (and ambitious) trip!
I think it is a really unique idea to use a WRX, although I would think that route planning would be critical, just because of ground clearance (like Graham said). I still think you could pick a pretty cool route.
I don't know a whole lot about WRX's (or...
Nice Sammy - looks like it is in great shape.
Is that your old-school Chrysler Laser the next space over? Can't remember the last time I saw one of those...
My sis was in town this week, so we all loaded up the Trooper and did a little exploring in the desert. Mostly trails, but I did find a few fun parts. Took a few shots:
moo - how do you like that ARB locker? I gotta save up my pennies, but that is high on my to-do list (since there are no mechanically selectable lockers available).
And thanks for the pics robert - I've been looking for pics of 255/85's forever, and never found anything with enough detail to...
Are they really getting out for good? I just figured they would keep selling re-badged pickup trucks to fleets as long as they could turn a buck or two.
The good thing is that they sold a lot of Troopers over the years, so rebuildable parts - alternators, starters, even engines should be...
Either one would be fun - obviously the M5 would be more comfortable, but I think the Lotus would be more of an adventure. I've always wanted one of those, and with the Toyota motor, reliability shouldn't be a problem.
Also like the idea of the S2000 or a Miata - anything that is going to be...
I usually get mine from these guys:

Bright orange, too!
:26_7_2: :26_7_2: to Adam's deal on the Fastenals - that's a bargain
That is one stong dude, to hold up that trooper like that!
Heh heh - the Troop is a great choice if you can find one that has low enough miles - they have a good amount of room and are small enough to get by on tight trails, and they can fit 32's without a lift, and 33's with a 1.5" lift.
If you find something you like on that DFS site - I found this coupon code on my favorite deals website - $50 off, not bad at all! Now I'm trying to justify needing a small laptop to mount in the truck! I haven't tried it to confirm if it works.
"Dell Financial Services has new Coupons - $50...
Check out the Dell Financial Services site, too. Almost all their stuff is business-class stuff - Latitudes, Precisions, etc. All off lease, so they are a generation old, but usually good prices.

I've only ever seen the 15w-40 for the conventional and the 5w-40 in synthetic, so I guess that is all they make. I've always been able to find it at Wal Mart - last month I got the synthetic for my bike, and it was $22 for a gallon (it used to be 18, which was a rockin' deal for synth).
There...
From what I understand, the problem is the design of the rings themselves - the drainback holes get partially clogged up and that forces some oil up into the combustion chamber - and some of the oil gets burned off.
Supposedly, Isuzu improved the design later in the run of engines, but my 2002...
