Check out the Dell Financial Services site, too. Almost all their stuff is business-class stuff - Latitudes, Precisions, etc. All off lease, so they are a generation old, but usually good prices.

My wife has been craigslist-ing her Apple MacBook Pro 15" for a while now. It's coming up on it's second birthday but is in phenomenal shape with the exception of the battery (about 60% usable capacity left.) I convinced her she wanted one of the new MacBooks, which is why she's getting rid of this one.

The Mac OS is so much better then Windows, but I don't know if it's out of your price range. If you're interested however, I'm sure she'd be happy to sell it to someone who'd use it. Feel free to PM me.

If you find something you like on that DFS site - I found this coupon code on my favorite deals website - $50 off, not bad at all! Now I'm trying to justify needing a small laptop to mount in the truck! I haven't tried it to confirm if it works.

There was a deal through Dell's "Days of Dell" where they had a Vostro 1000 for $399 base price. 160 hd, 2mg Ram, pretty well set up. I added a long distance wireless card, 9 cell 4-5 hour battery, and complete office suite for $629 shipped. It is a really really nice computer as well, I am super psyched...

I doubt the deal is still going but you can hunt on the dell site. Don't ve affraid of the busienss class stuff too (what the Vostro is) as it doesn't package in all of this crap software which is nice. Mine arrived in about 6 days...

Thank goodness for friends. My bud Ed was able to take all of my files and save them. Then he cleaned the whole computer off and installed a new version of windows vista. Voila. She works as right as rain.
