For my build I made a sandwich of aluminum diamond plate -> XPS -> plywood and used lap sealant after the diamond plate to make sure there weren’t any leaks from road spray. I had to be a bit careful to minimize potential galvanic corrosion but so far it has held up well (knocks wood).
I’ve really enjoyed my build and get out quite a bit because of it. Definitely one of my better life decisions. Thanks for the inspiration and hopefully I can pay it forward.
