That's why I was thinking recovery gear. It's already getting covered in dirt when in use and it is only needed when going offroad so it can come off when just daily driving the truck.

I had mine on the roof. It tanked my mialage on the highway. I built a tire carier bumper to get it off the roof. As for UV exposure I just put a cover on it.

i have my air tank back there. currently working on a skid palate to protect it after my last tank met a unfortunate demise from a well placed rock off road.
Ya I was going to mount my trailer controll display there originally. No issue with gear indacator since I have a 5 speed.

I got a smoking deal on a (ab)used smittybilt winch. It's not too bad but they somehow wrecked the plastic box that houses the solinoid. Has anyone ever built a replacement box? What did you use?
